In my part of the world we say you are a fool if your passion for a pursuit overcomes all practical sense. I am a stitching fool, and I stitch foolishness.

Dirt and a Critter

The computer is working again, even if we discovered the back-up thumb-drive was corrupted and we've lost a bunch of stuff.

I love technology when it works . . .

Anyway, this week while the blog has been dark, I've stitched dirt and a critter.

There has been some discussion as to what this critter is.

Cissy Smith, who charted the reproduction, refers to it as a colt.  Dearly Beloved, who has a box of ribbons around here somewhere from his days of competing in equitation events, says it looks more bovine than equine to him. I think it's a sheep, actually a lamb who is out for a frolic.

Since we cannot get a consensus on the type of beast, it's a critter.

I'm working on more dirt. There is a path that runs all the way around the lawn inside the fence, so I've started more tent stitch over one to create that part of the design.

I'm getting a little tired of dirt, but the faster I get it stitched, that faster I can get to things that are more fun.

And a prettier color.

  1. Looks like a gamboling lamb to me. I can see why the fence kept you up late - seems the tendency would be to do just one more upright ... oh just one more ... What a lot of dirt that is around your critter. But very well kept, smoothly raked dirt.

  3. I couldn’t decide whether it was a colt or a lamb when I charted the critter but based on the color and shape it does look more like a lamb to me now. I’m delighted to see your progress on Mary Otter 1792! You are such a beautiful stitcher! I got bogged down with Jannet Stevenson’s Queen Stitch Strawberry pyramid and keep getting distracted by Elbert Adams Cozy mysteries but can see that I need to step up my stitching on Jannet’s Scottish Sampler reproduction model! I’m so excited about the Victorian Sewing Shoe and Pocketbook I’m designing to go with Mary Otter’s Sampler that I’m finding it difficult to sit and Stitch after things calm down after supper time. Cal is down for a nap and Dad was taken to Kiwanis Club by a friend so I’m slipping upstairs to Stitch for an hour right now...
