In my part of the world we say you are a fool if your passion for a pursuit overcomes all practical sense. I am a stitching fool, and I stitch foolishness.

grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter

I have not slept more than four or five hours any night since Sunday. I'm not sure why, but it is beginning to irritate me more than a little bit.

It's also beginning to tell on me. I think I'm getting delusional.  For example, last night while I was staring at the ceiling, I calculated that I could potentially finish five more samplers by the end of the year. And three of those involve reversible stitches.  And there are only about 16 weeks left in the year. And we have things like Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Dearly Beloved and I have a couple of trips before that.

I'm not delusional. I'm bugnutz crazy.

And this is all I've managed to stitch:

There might have been more if I hadn't managed to miscount or mis-stitch or basically messed up every time I sat down to stitch.

I really need some sleep.

  1. Is it a full moon? I couldn't sleep Tuesday night, but that was because I had a double cortisone shot in my right knee. Not only did it end the pain, it ended all possibility of sleep for hours and hours. Ain't growing older grand?

  2. I always think I can accomplish so much in so little time. My mind stitches a whole lot faster than my fingers, which has caused me to miss whole rows of stitching.....

  3. Sorry to hear about you sleep difficulties, I hope they resolve themselves soon for you. I did chuckle a little to think that what was turning over in your mind when sleep alluded you was how much more stitching you could get done this year. Sign of a true stitcher there :D

  4. Wish I had a magic sleeping potion for you! I don't lie awake at night, but I do awaken frequently during the night. But I'm usually getting the very best sleep right when my alarm goes off, lol!

  5. Sorry you're not sleeping well - that just makes everything awful. Perhaps over-ambitious? (though I'm loving the phrase "bugnutz crazy") When I have serious trouble getting back to sleep in the middle of the night - more often than I'd like to admit - I meticulously plan a stitching or sewing project, or the finishing of a stitching small.
